“That contract [ALPA CBA] requires United to “convert” 76-seat aircraft to 70-seat aircraft if it is forced to furlough pilots hired prior to when the contract was signed, a move that could diminish the economics of the jets.”

Due to protections under LOA 12-09 “United Express Job Opportunities for Furloughed United Pilots,” if you had hoped to land a job flying for a carrier under the covered UAX brands, and there are United Mainline pilots furloughed, those pilots get first rights to hiring that occurs at UAX.
